Thursday, October 10th

Thursday passed in a blur of story writing, playing and finishing up the day with dinner and the kids playing outside with daddy in the evening while I went to the gym!

The previous night (Thursday) when Jim took the kids to Hobby Lobby to pick a new Boo, Victoria had instead chosen this create-your-own-story book.  She draws and writes stories all of the time, but this little kit just really captivated her!  Jim had told her that in lieu of her regular school work, she could spend the morning coming up with an idea for her book, drawing the pictures and writing the content.  I thought it was great - she spent *hours* on the project and did more writing this one morning than I can usually squeeze out of her in an entire week!

Reading me what she had written :-)  It's so true that if kids are really interested in a certain topic, project or thing, they will put forth vastly more effort than when what they are learning is dictated by an outside source.

Scarlett used a paper-back little blank workbook I had to create a story as well - she caught the fever!  They spent a lot of time discussing ideas, running plot lines past each other ("Should their be animals at the party in this picture?"... "Well, it IS a magic fairyland, so obviously.")  During all of this explosive multi-hour creativity, breakfast was made, the baby was played with (by myself, Nana and Grammie in turns) spelling help was given in abundance by any adult who passed by, and there's a small chance that Lincoln watched approximately four Curious George's back to back - just keeping it real ;-)

Afterward when it was nearly lunchtime, Gram was going to head out to Costco and the kiddos jumped all over the opportunity to go with her.  Not too many great-grandmas are probably out there, running the road with three little ones in tow!  But they had a blast and enjoyed lunch there as well.  Meanwhile, I was enjoying this snuggle bug :-)

Later in the afternoon when we checked the mail, there was a package from Grammie Wright addressed to Lincoln.  He was super excited to find that she had sent him a Notre Dame bandana for Salty, so that he could dress up for game day and match him.  We had to put it on him right away!

For his part, I don't think he even noticed it was on (he has the thickest fur this side of an Alaskan sled dog...), but he was all smiles that the kids were loving on him :-)  Thanks Grammie Wright!
