Monday, August 26th

We had lots of school time on Monday, took good naps, and topped the day off with Karate and grilling out for dinner!

Beginning Week 3, Lesson #3 in our Bible object lessons for kids and the topic was on filtering our thoughts (Philippians 4:8).  We went into the kitchen and I gave them each a coffee filter to hold and fiddle with while I set up our little experiment.  I had a funnel, cup and coffee grounds; now, my kids love coffee!  But when I placed coffee grounds into the filter and then poured warm water over the grounds and they shot through into the cup, none of them were too keen on tasting the result - it looked "nasty," "disgusting," and "like poop." haha  But when I used the filter and repeated the process, we ended up with the yummy looking coffee they all know and love.  Afterward we went back to the table to work on our Bible Journals and discuss how in our verse for the week, we're given very clear tips on *how* we can filter out bad, ugly or negative thoughts.  By using the attributes listed in Philippians 4:8, we can begin to qualify what things we allow into our mind.

The kids also selected their presentation topics for our upcoming Passport Club meeting, had reading, writing and timeline review.  Waverly sometimes loves being on the floor, and other times... not so much.  However she was really enjoying her blanket time (belly and back) today and Victoria loved hanging out with her when she wasn't busy!
